For those of us who aren’t James Bond, Rob Lowe, or Mr. Raven, we simply have never experienced the event portrayed in the comic. Yes, when working late, the elderly Polish cleaning lady knocks to ask if she can enter to empty the garbage, but to-date, she’s never made a pass. So, unlike Mr. Raven, if a Heather Thomas or – sorry Vox – a Teri Copley sashayed across my office and kissed me on the cheek, I’d take notice. I’d think she was dazed and confused or going to pitch a time share in Florida, but I’d notice. And the sad part boys, is that if it was the latter, there’s a chance I’d buy.

Put it off to a 3rd encounter. By then, you'll be both mysterious, a challenge (remember, men don't want a woman who's "a challenge" but women go ga-ga over that shit).

Ask HER lots of questions about herself, and keep answers about your self as brief and indirect as possible. This maintains your air of being "mysterious" and limits the opportunity for you to inadvertently say something that triggers one of her (irrational) negative triggers before she warms up to you more.

Heard again from the Raven, nevermore.

We should be so lucky. This one was a concise run-through of several behaviors - like a cram course. The lack of self-awareness is like a mental illness. Likewise the infantile rage. Nice poetry though.

Is Andrew Huberman Sigma?

Summary: He was seeing six women ("spinning six plates") at the same time while lying to every single one, and the one he was trying to have a kid with (he's 48, this woman is in her early 40s or late 30s) discovered this. He's described as flaky but effective when he does show up. Early life issues with his parents' marriage.

And he went on to completely ignore the article and just kept doing what he does. Doesn’t seem like he gives a rat’s posterior about social status.

He cares very much. If the lemmings didn't unquestioningly accept dark triad behavior, this social hierarchy wouldn't have existed in the first place.

Based on how dishonest corporate media is, my gut instinct is to first wonder what verboten topic did Huberman discuss or with which guest, that triggered a 4am Memo to write a hit piece attempting to destroy his credibility?

(Even if this article ends up making him look cooler due to his Sigmaness, who knows)

I'm not a sigma, but it's annoying even to bravos when we're focused on a task, don't have time for women, give her a polite but direct response to indicate your lack of time.

Then deal with the drama of, "This isn't your usual, did I do something wrong!? Do we need to talk?"

And spend extra time dealing telling her you're currently mission focused and dealing with her drama, when the whole point was you have no time for her BS small talk.

Oh, to have women simply understand that you're an asshole inherently.... would be nice sometimes.

As another bravo, I don't remember getting the drama response. I always get the "sure, I'll come back later" type response. But I also push back over half the time, so they expect the push back.

Fair, thanks for sharing.

I double in a bunch of leadership roles - business owner, board of local cemetery, and run an annual 400-500 person volunteer workday. So I can handle leadership, but defer to the natural alphas whenever I can as long as they're not going to ruin/take over my own projects.

Maybe it leads to confusion with some women? I don't know. All I know is that, as an amiable extrovert, when I have to focus and divert women away from losing focus on tasks at hand, I get drama.

I can imagine what happens next: Cate then ignores him and won’t even look at him to “show him”, and Dag… ignores her.

In Dag’s mind, she’s not only mid, but not even showing interest any more… so as far as he is concerned, she’s now background scenery.

But now she’s ticked…

The men who turn against the Sigma do so for various reasons… but this may explain the women who help push Sigmas out of the organization.

As with almost everything social media has made this worse. Mid woman get so much validation on instagram etc… that they think they deserve it. Things were more balanced before social media. Now a mid level male is in for a struggle.

They were large-jawed non-beauties, a little chubby, and yet were acting like Mean Girls thanks to all the male attention they got on social media. Social media needs to be regulated like cigarettes or alcohol.

I am a 5 on a good day, and in a dimly-lit bar. But I still pulled this move off a couple times.

Once, a female subordinate walked up behind me and brushed my shoulder "hey got a second??".

Me: "I'm sorry, I have some work to do, I will have some time later."

Now I know she was not interested in me socially but was looking for a workplace favor. I shut it down exactly this way because I don't allow myself to be manipulated like a dumb Beta with his tongue hanging out. When will men learn? This is just obvious manipulation when you're a mid to lower status guy.

She turned red, got flustered, and said "Oh, okay, I'll come back later."

Me: "Thanks, that works for me."

Just because we are not Sigmas does not mean we can't cop a few of their riffs. But you DO have to know how to play.

She came back later and addressed me like a normal co-worker, with none of the fake interest.

TL;DR---

**If you're going to open with the girlfriend experience, I expect you to close that way as well.**

Your response is standard bravo response, maybe with a smile or similar friendly non-verbal cue.

Partly because you're always working on something, so this is your natural response to male coworkers, even the smile. Partly because you have attractive women in your non-work life, so an attractive coworker doesn't set off any hormones, which lets your response remain the same as your male coworker response.

Expand full comment
sk's avatar

Perhaps. I personally don't find smiling to be of value much of the time. And I really didn't want her to come back later, but I was her superior so I had no choice except to handle whatever it was. I may be a Delta, but I was preferring a Sigma's outcome.

This particular person was somewhat known at work for being a honey-voiced vixen when she wanted something. It does no good as a superior at work to appear to be an easy mark for such obvious tactics. If someone is going to play it that way, my response is a quiet, disengaged look. "What can I do for you?"

What gets rewarded will be repeated. The puppies have learned that treats come when the barking stops, and the jumping up on me stops. Subordinates can also similarly learn.

I can't control the manipulative behavior of a subordinate, but I can choose how I react, and which behaviors get better results. To her credit, she never tried that approach with me again, and it was cordial business after that. No one respects a dupe.

a circus boy's avatar

I think the only difference is our approach. If I get the flirty initiation, I return a flirty response, even when it's a negative flirty response.

This does the same thing, as she'll understand it immediately, that she got an "I can play the same game" response.

(Cut and paste from LinkedIn, but it fits Dag) The wolf never eats corpses, neither animals, nor people; it spends its whole life with a partner, it does not mate with its mother or sister; it is a monogamous animal, it does not deceive.

If a partner dies, the wolf remains alone; it knows its young ones well: it is the only animal that helps their parents after deep old age and brings them food.

When you kill a wolf, it looks you in the eye until its soul gives out; it's 25% smarter than the smartest dog, and it's the only animal that doesn't obey training.

1. A spiteful, bitter assholery is caring and invested. Sensitive to a girl's judgement. This is what you should avoid.

2. A refined assholery is uncaring and aloof. Indifferent to a girl's judgement. This what you should strive towards.
