Hard to say which organization lost more credibility this month: the Hall of Fame for snubbing the greatest Head Coach of all time or the Journal of Nature for passing on the MITTENS paper.
This is so true. And, further infuriating the gamma sportswriters was the fact that Patriots fans here in New England loved how Belichick gave them nothing and didn't suck up to them and help them write their columns. How often have you ever heard an interesting or insightful question from a sportswriter? Most of their blather's on the order of "How do you feel?" We laughed at Belichick giving them nothing and they hated it.
There might be more to this story according to Craig Carton from WFAN. He says that Bob Kraft orchestrated the demise of Belichick’s HOF ballot because Kraft didn’t want to see Bill go into the HOF before him. Carton also speculated that maybe there was some payola involved, although he had no evidence, but noted that the question needs to be asked. Apparently someone asked a voter with strong ties to Kraft and lots of vconnections to the other voters if he voted for Belichick and the voter said he couldn’t remember who he voted for. So just to be clear, Carton thinks that Kraft told his buddy to vote no on Belichick, yes on him, and then told him to convince his voting friends to do the same. This may well be the Alpha fucking over the Sigma with the help of Deltas and Gammas. Or maybe Kraft isn’t an Alpha, I don’t know, I’m not an expert.
Here’s what I find amusing about Bill not being a first ballot HOFer. Every Jet fan I know and have listened to on the radio is outraged about this even thought Belichick fucked the Jets over by accepting the Jet’s head coaching job and then defected to New England to go onto a HOF career. He also beat them just about twice per year thereafter. Yet, all of the Jet fans think it’s absolute bullshit that he isn’t a first ballot HOFer. They are literally more upset than the Giant fans who have a very positive view of Belichick. Bill has two SB wins as the Giant’s DC under Parcells and they also beat the Pats twice in the SB with Bill as the HC. Don’t get me wrong, us Giants fans think it’s bullshit, but the Jet fans are outraged beyond belief. I find it hilarious.
Joe Namath was the first quarterback to throw for 4,000 yards in a season. He did it in 1967 in a 14-game season. At least the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets have that.
I no longer pay any attention to sports ball awards. I mean shaduer sanders made the pro bowl. But this does perfectly demonstrate the SSH in action. Most of the voting panel are reporters. Gammas that never played but get to snipe at the real athletes.
Belichick even did the "fail faster" thing at North Carolina. He saw that his style of coaching wasn't working there and bowed out. Guessing an Alpha would've tried to stay the entire season, (or the entire contract), before getting fired.
I'm a lifelong Steelers fan and 'burgh native. Belichick deserves to be in the Hall. After all, Ray "I was pulling the knife out" Lewis is in the Hall.
Deflategate is nonsense and the league's own fault for not policing. It is also the kind of low level edge-seeking that exists in all sports at all time. Name a sport and I can show you the greats bending rules -- from the 70s Steelers, Gretzky, Ali, NASCAR, baseball.
Spygate. This is different, this was real and Belichick was 100% guilty of egregious cheating. We know this to be true because Paul Tagliabue destroyed all the evidence after comparative slaps on the wrists were administered.
BUT, if the NFL lacked the moral fortitude to appropriately punish Belichick and the Patriots as they should have then, they absolutely lack the moral standing 20+ years later to punish Belichick.
Therefore, I agree his actual crime was showing public contempt for the moronic journalists who covered his sport.
I forgot about how Belichick made gamma journalists mad by not respecting their dumb questions enough. I assumed this punishment was an embrace by gamma males of the latest longhouse dictate, that it is “wrong” for rich and famous men to have attractive young girlfriends. The gamma males think on some level they may get some action from middle-aged harpies if they punish Bill for “violating dating age norms.”
There’s another species of Gamma who will try to ride Bill Belichick’s coattails with the hot girl in order to justify his own crimes against a former employee he sexually assaulted.
True story, I watched a trial in which the defendant, when confronted with the substantial age difference between himself and one of the (dozen) women he sexually assaulted, retort from the witness stand that some men had much younger girlfriends, such as Bill Belichick.
I had already pegged him as a Gamma before that, but he confirmed it with that remark.
Even if you remove the entire season related to videotaping the Jets, he is still the greatest NFL coach of the modern era. I say that as a non-Pats fan because it’s true. Only Andy Reid enters the conversation.
This explains my Uncle. He is a gamma who never got married. We got along okay until I got married and then things started getting tense. Then I had a son. He became this nasty vicious petty little monster towards me and only me.
It’s good to remember he will never bury the hatchet.
They did the same thing to black Red Sox player Jim Rice. They admitted him on his last year of eligibility because he hated the press. My uncle is a huge baseball fan and was 100% convinced he'd never get in.
Ehhh. Jim Rice was IMO, not qualified. He had 3 great years. He had a bunch of years where, playing in Fenway Park, his numbers just weren't that great but he had Wade Boggs and Dwight Evans constantly on base when he came to bat so he'd get 100 runs batted in which was superficially impressive. I'd also note that post retirement, Rice did some TV commentary for the Red Sox and was nowhere near as standoffish with the rest of the press.
You could write the same column about Barry Bonds being excluded (still) from the Baseball Hall of Fame. Bonds was having a Hall of Fame career back when he was still a skinny kid in Pittsburgh whose body obviously had never been injected with a steroid. Then, in the 1990s, it was his over-muscled, steroid-assisted physique (along with that of Mark McGwire) hitting massive numbers of home runs that saved baseball after the baseball strike and World Series cancellation. (Remember those "chicks dig the long ball" commercials? I do.) Bonds thanks for saving baseball was to be bled to death by ankle-biting, wussified "sportswriter" gammas still dealing with the nightmare-traumas of having their heads literally or figuratively dunked in the toilet bowl during high school.

Ironically demonstrating lack of fitness to judge sporting merit. And justifying Belichick’s disdain.

The best response to gamma insults is just "No you", simple yet effective

What are the odds that this was a strategic PR move by the NFL to dominate the headlines
In the lull after the conference championship games. It is just too absurd.
