I am proud to be an Original #GamerGater. I was one of the very early members of #GamerGate, even before it was christened #GamerGate by Adam Baldwin. I hosted the #GGINPARIS event that was covered by Le Monde. And one of the many things I learned from #GamerGate was to respect, admire, and cherish the unique talents of the many Omegas who served so valiantly in that campaign against the converged industry, the corrupt media, and as we have now learned from the exposure of the USAID funding, against the deep pockets of the US federal government itself.
The DOGE campaign is essentially #GamerGate 3.0. It’s on a larger scale than the original and the stakes are even higher than the 2015 Trump campaign, but it is focused on precisely the same foe that #GG fought and relies upon weaponizing exactly the same sort of individuals who cut their teeth and learned their tactics in the first campaign.
Here is an ode to the Omegas of #GamerGates past and present that appeared recently on /pol/:
They targeted gamers.
GAMERS.
We're a group of people who will sit for hours, days, even weeks on end performing some of the hardest, most mentally demanding tasks. Over, and over, and over all for nothing more than a little digital token saying we did.
We'll punish ourselves doing things others would consider torture, because we think it's fun.
We'll spend most if not all of our free time minmaxing the stats of a fictional character all to draw out a single extra point of damage per second.
Many of us have made careers out of doing just these things: slogging through the grind, all day, the same quests over and over, hundreds of times to the point where we know evety little detail such that some have attained such gamer nirvana that they can literally play these games blindfolded.
Do these people have any idea how many controllers have been smashed, systems overheated, disks and carts destroyed in frustration? All the latter to be referred to as bragging rights?
These people honestly think this is a battle they can win? They take our media? We're already building a new one without them. They take our devs? Gamers aren't shy about throwing their money elsewhere, or even making the games ourselves. They think calling us racist, misogynistic, rape apologists is going to change us? We've been called worse things by prepubescent 10 year olds with a headset. They picked a fight against a group that's already grown desensitized to their strategies and methods. Who enjoy the battle of attrition they've threatened us with. Who take it as a challenge when they tell us we no longer matter. Our obsession with proving we can after being told we can't is so deeply ingrained from years of dealing with big brothers/sisters and friends laughing at how pathetic we used to be that proving them wrong has become a very real need; a honed reflex.
Ave and Onward, my Omega brothers. Unleash the full force of your pent-up anger, your wrath at the world that has despised you your entire life, and pour it out on those who have funded everything and everyone that made your life a Hell on Earth.
I’ve even written a song to honor and inspire you. Because, as we know, The Ride Never Ends.
(((They))) have made the classic mistake of leaving their enemies nowhere to retreat.
They: We’ll make sure 2/3 of women are obese and undateable. We’ll give HR departments control of work culture, and we’ll give the best jobs to Indian H1Bs. We’ll fill every screen with anti white male propaganda. We’ll feed you poison, make your buildings ugly, and tax you to pay for it all.
Omegas: Cool, I’ll just play video games.
They: Nope, your video games are fat black and gay now.
Omegas: 🔥
Omegas are outside the hierarchy and have little to lose. One would be a fool to antagonize them.
