“I Walk the Line” by Johnny Cash sounds like it would qualify.

"To be with you" by Mr. Big made me cringe even when I was 14 or so and had no idea about the SSH. I always wondered why one would like to be the next in a long line of losers being dumped by a 304.

I believe another example of a Delta song is Jessie by Joshua Kadison: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYKpp60828M

The first verse:

From a phone booth in Vegas Jessie calls at 5 a.m.

To tell me how she's tired of all of them

She says, "Baby, I've been thinking about a trailer by the sea

We could go to Mexico; you, the cat and me

We'll drink tequila and look for seashells

Now doesn't that sound sweet"

Oh Jessie you always do this every time I get back on my feet

I found it. My nomination for "the song that most represents Delta music"... [drum roll]: "Lady", written by Lionel Richie as sung by Kenny Rogers. Prepare to cringe - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0T1J8JuTtR8

I vaguely remember Big Bear mentioning Pearl Jam's Black as an example of a Bravo break up song.

"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life.

I know you'll be a star in someone else's sky.

But why, why, why can't it be.

Oh, can't it be mine?"

This is OT, Vox, so feel free to delete this comment from Sigma Game. But I would appreciate it very much if you could please update one of your articles:

The ban on Chaucer's Canterbury Tales may be because (((they))) feature in one of the stories:

The epitome of a delta song may be "Wichita Lineman," which covers both the socio- and the sexual part of Delta. A guy dutifully and competently doing his job and devoted to his girl.

The SSH ruined The Cure for me too, but that's a good thing. Their lyrics sound pathetic to me now.

Me too. I can never watch Caddyshack again due to Kevin MacDonald. Oh well there's still Depeche Mode.

The songs "Let your hair down" or "Rude" by Magic! may be an instance of Bravo Music.

I say this because the lead singer Nasri Atweh seems to fit the type. High SMV, easy-going, laid-back and a general demeanor of contentment rather than being dominant and highly assertive and aggressive. Life is just fun and easy. Married an attractive German singer who had a kid from a first marriage.

"Goodbye Stranger" by Supertramp would qualify.

Several months ago, I spent some time trying to apply SSH to musicians. It's good to know if you are about to invest time and energy in a band whether the project will blow up later because of a gamma meltdown. It's easy enough if you know the players personally, but I was dissatisfied with my attempts to type the famous from afar, particularly when it came to identifying sigmas.

So I pose this question to any who might have an insight: In estimating a man's SSH status, how much weight do you put on the girlfriends/wives versus the patterns of behavior?
