I read the title too quickly and thought it said "Ask The Gamma:..."

I was thinking this will be my greatest morning-read. Ever

Why do so few Alpha stay and kick out the corrupter? they just leave and seek to build new but this just leaves them the target for yet another gamma to "give'm a chance".

Gatekeep or you will be gatekept. Anyone who cannot learn this (conservatives) simply will not survive. Church, activity group, business, everywhere. Keep out hostile outsiders or they will eventually seize control and kick you out.

I hope it’s not too late for white people to learn this.

Expulsion a soon as possible. Like weeding a garden or weight loss/fitness. Pay a little now or a lot later.

It's helpful and much easier if you "have the crowd on your side" to a degree. When ridding dead weight from guys I'd spot as problematic very early on at work, I'd sometime wait until gamma boy had sufficiently irritated a number of people before sending them off.

Sometimes that's not possible and you just need to drop the hammer regardless of who likes or dislikes it. You may look harsh but months or years later when you're proven correct don't expect affirmations or apologies for other's lack of foresight. Just know you did what was needed.

A man who cannot type correct sentences in 2024, and uses a color to describe his race, is a low status male. Give the suspected gamma a chance since the group is already lame to begin with.

Similar experience. I'm an advisor to the leader of a statewide religious organization, who sits on the national board. I've been tutoring him on the SSH and when one day a new guy appeared in the chat and insulted two of the productive members in smart boi fashion, I told him to watch for a series of red flags. Within a week, the gamma had hit every one of them, and when he tried to take over administrative function of one of the chats that was enough for the leader to take it up to national an have the gamma expelled. If it hadn't been for the promulgation of this taxonomy, we'd be saddled with him still.

Of particular annoyance were several Deltas asking for people to be "reasonable" and "stop causing drama". As a Delta myself, the white knighting for a gamma put a sour taste in my mouth.

I saw this tweet on X that describes the Gamma pretty well… and it was retweeted by Elon.

I am a gamma. I understand the world by the why. If your why explanation is met with doubling down then the gamma isn't being dishonest. I should not be in leadership positions as conflict causes stress. I am a situation alpha or secret king when the alpha fails. But only to steer the bus to safety until the next alpha can take over. I should not be taking over the group. If your don't want to explain the why to the gamma then I wouldn't allow the gamma in the group. I can be annoying. I am good at fixing broken items and solving problems that require someone to think about the why. I have some value to the world. Coming to terms with my gamma status with sigma game has been helpful. Looking forward to the book. I hope this post was helpful and wanted.

Are you satisfied with being a gamma, or are you making an effort to mimic delta characteristics?

At work I am an ICU nurse for many years. Morning rounds is an opportunity to flex my gamma traits. There have been instances where the doctors come to rounds thinking a patient looks great on paper and they can transferred to a general medicine ward. I look at the patients breathing and its abnormal the patient is having trouble with swallowing and secretions. Some nurses do sit back and just follow orders. I point out all my concerns to the team as to why they are crazy to send the patient out. You might say well that's your job! Exactly. I am telling you from experience not everyone would question the plan like I do. I do remember one case where indeed the patient got intubated 4 hours later after the doctors wanted the guy to go the floor.

Sorry. Typo. honest. Not dishonest

Indeed. I have been doing this from long before the word Gamma was invented in this context and have often been thought "brutal" because of it by some.

But it is as necessary to do as it is to not let sewage get in your ice cream.

The As I Lay Dying lead singer is an interesting case. You can replace testosterone in the boy but you cannot remove his gammahood.

It is indeed wise to keep the Gamma away from the group as much as possible.

Since Gammas have a great tendency to spread rumors and discord, it is not only better for the whole group to keep him out, it is also for the sake group members' peace too. Many times when a Gamma comes into the mix, the tongue of the gamma will start to light things on fire and make the whole experience very unpleasant, whether it be hypocrisy or pontification or etc. Divisions start to form and the members start to contend against each other. I've seen this happen many times in church groups.

Proverbs expounds "For lack of wood the fire goes out; and where there is no whisperer, the contention ceases." Even God hates "one who sows discord among brothers".

I'm having second thoughts. Are we being too harsh? I mean, there's been a lot of holiday cheer in the office today and it's Thanksgiving tomorrow here in the U.S. and Christmas is just around the corner... maybe... you know, in the spirit of the season...maybe the Gamma should be given a chance.

No. Sounds like you're trying to avoid the confrontation + meltdown + flounce that will ensue from the banishment. Believe me, it'll happen anyway. Your choice is, do you want it to happen now or amid the rubble of what used to be your social club. Banish the Gamma.

The old (now banned) gentlemen's social clubs had a blackball. One full member could bar a new prospect for any reason or no reason. This put considerable pressure on lower status males to fit in.

Until the boomers, who destroyed all the rules. My advice now is to not ever set up a formal group. Friends will always look after friends.

Blackball...I've never heard this before, the entomology of the expression. It's like a filibuster? Cool rule, I can see it's usefulness. But likewise could be used to support personal petty vendetta. I suppose if the club is small enough, you wouldn't want any drama from that type of thing anyways

OK. This is the link. Read it. Note it is ancient, and in the old system you had to be voted into the club without any dissent.

In my opinion, with the dying of clown world, that time is ending. Fornal groups can be formed again with new information.

We will need groups going forward. Just purge gammas and glowies.

This is a serious problem for various evangelical churches. The bar to entry is generally very low, and the ability to cause chaos in the church environment is very high. Lying, gossip and general backbiting tear congregations apart in short order, and unfortunately delivering a holy headslap in the parking lot is pretty much off limits, but I really get why St. Nick decked that one guy, even if he did have to do some time in the pokey for it.

Our long time church had a gamma in a situational alpha role (pastor) with a rock-solid Bravo supporting him.

Weird space.

Churches are one of the most social organizations a person can join. Socio-sexual status will be revealed very quickly in a church environment.

The Scriptures tell us that leaders should be vetted for their character as well as their knowledge. See 1 Timothy 3. Any church that fails to do this fails their congregation. A Master of Divinity doesn't make you qualified to be a leader.

Expand full comment

True, but admitting gammas even to the general membership is a problem, especially when they espouse heresies. They creep about from house to house, speaking great swelling words of emptiness and all that.

Expand full comment

I agree that they will be a problem. However, they can't be denied church membership just for having a gamma personality. As such, they have to be tolerated and discipled. The teachings of Christ when properly followed are the best way to "graduate gamma", because they force us to accept the reality that we are all deeply flawed. Christ can turn a gamma into a great man: see Saint Augustine, C. S. Lewis, and, in my view, Saint Paul.

When it comes to heresies, heretics should be rejected after the second admonition as Saint Paul says. That's regardless of status.

Expand full comment

I think I would tend to agree, but perhaps not tolerated entirely. There are many Gammas in my church who have been able to change for the better over time. Thank God for his saving power. But also, my church has also had to take a hard stance on gamma like behavior too, often with the direct confrontation of sin. Because of this policy, many Gammas end up leaving the church after being confronted about their sin, often much of which includes gossiping and legalism from the gamma. Yet the ones that do end up staying and repenting do end up behaving differently over time, although it usually takes much pain and vexation on everyone involved.

Expand full comment

That sounds great. They will cause pain and vexation regardless. If they are improving slowly thats wonderful, since they cant be banned.

Is there some kind of test or initiation ceremony that would be almost certain to avoid the Gammas trying to enter a group? I'm thinking this might help as "not passing the test" is a bit better than flat out expelling the guy or saying he can't join because Gamma.

For a discord group or other online groups, a voice verification before being allowed in would work, as long as the mod doing voice verification is SSH aware. The speech patterns will give them away when they talk long enough.

Boomer gammas ruined the gun club I was a member of. They did the usual expected nonsense. They acted like they owned the place and threw their imaginary weight around, pissed off the range owners who were very kindly allowing us to use their land, and caused enough gossip and division they ended up getting the whole club booted off the range. They weren't even club officers.

Expand full comment

Was there any pushback to their antics at all?

Expand full comment

It was a situation of "too little, too late." The bylaws (which admittedly sucked) didn't have a means of expulsion because they didn't break any of the safety rules. They should have been kicked out of course, before the fallout collapsed the whole club, but they were already struggling to keep members and just hoped it would "go away." The club president was a delta boomer desperate to make everyone happy. We all know how that ends.

Some of the remnants formed a new, much smaller, very private club a few years later. The gammas tried to form their own also but last I'd heard it collapsed again. None of the ranges will host them, even now, ten years later.

It looks like the problem resolved itself, however chaotically.
