How would this sound without the "nice" bit? I think being a 'nice guy' as in incompetent pushover outweighs any potential benefit of the other traits. Imagine: "he's a nice, handsome man" - would that serve to attract the ladies either? Does that mean they don't like handsomeness?
The smartest guys in my fraternity got laid the most, except the one who didn't put any effort into getting big muscles. The smartest guy in our rival fraternity got laid the most in his. The guys I know from high school who went to the best colleges now have the hottest ladies in tow, except the geeky uber nerd types who don't also have big muscles. Women like men that other men respect...
I seriously doubt the intelligence=disattraction claim. It depends more on how said intelligence is applied. In my observations, it's actually SSH-dependent; women find intelligence in alphas attractive since that's expressed as them being more effective alphas, and disattractive in people such as gammas especially since that's expressed as them being more disruptive gammas. In either case, though, intelligence is certainly secondary to things like social prowess, so I agree with the motive behind the general claim there.
Going back to the 90s when attraction was discussed in psychology there were seven areas of attraction. There were two lists of attractors, slightly different for both sexes, and intelligence was on the list for both--as an attractor. While these lists do not seem to be used any longer the key take away was that no single attractor made an individual attractive. It was always a weighted scale where all the attractors would combine to make the individual attractive.
That conversation in that Hypergamouse strip is very similar to something I witnessed in person.
A friend of mine was introduced to some women by another very personable and outgoing friend who said something to the effect of "he's smart and a nice guy!" You could literally see the faces of the two women morph in polite avoidance for a second. Had the outgoing friend not deftly smoothed things over immediately and clarified that the other guy had achieved a very high level of education despite being so young, the conversation would have ended rather quickly.
I'm excited for the paperback of Hypergamouse and Sigma Game!
Finally decided to back it, paperback mouse and sigma game. This teller doesn't currently have much of a cashflow at all, but his living costs surviving as he is on the largesse of others affords the odd spluge. This and a social galactic sub are at least not going towards hostile entities, and this teller has a terrifying backlog of video games that shall only be more terrifying now that he's actually writing and sculpting instead of slowly rotting to death.
Though, to be fair it wasn't as if he was chipping away at it when he was deep in the pit of despair of inaction either.
Stoke’s problem isn’t so much that he’s nice and smart, it’s that “nice” and “smart” are the only impressions he’s managed to make upon the ladymice (a most unfortunate state of affairs)
Sapiosexual is a word I noticed popping up a lot in the last 5-8 years or so. The second one is ambivert. You see this especially on social media / dating sites and apps. As Vox pointed out in the referenced post, sapiosexual has a meaning, which none of the women describing themselves as such actually understand. Otherwise, they would drop it immediately. So in this case it's usually midwit women posturing and is just used by them to convey "yeah, I like guys who are smarter than me / smart but not dorks". Gosh, what a novel and unheard of concept.
Ambivert, on the other hand, strikes me as more artificial if not deliberately made up concept. It feels right up the alley of have their cake and eat it too, girlboss, feelgood creation of the gynocentric academia. "All I do in my free time is watch TV shows but on the weekends I also go clubbing with my besties. I must be an ambivert". Either way, if a woman describes herself as sapiosexual or ambivert it's just eyeroll inducing and tends to indicate, at least to me, that she'll be the tedious type who has to challenge you on everything just to prove that she too can play with the big boys. A women equivalent of the "SOURCE?!" gammas, if you will.
Is the lesson here that intelligent men should hide their intelligence to attract more women, or that they should just accept that their intelligence is a handicap that makes them unattractive to most women?
The latter, except you overstate it. It's just a strike against you, it's not a death knell. If, for example, you make up for your high intelligence by being arrogant and cruel, it actually tends to work for you. In the short term, anyhow.
He addresses that in the previous article where he discusses sapiosexual claims and intelligence. Simply: intelligence is a tool, use it. The tool itself isn't very valuable unless put to use.
Intelligence isn't a handicap. It doesn't mean anything. Most so called smart people aren't nearly as intelligent as they think they are. After all if they can't figure out that women want muscles then they aren't that bright.
A truly intelligent man uses his intellect to figure out what women want and what he can do to give it to them and then he goes and does those things. That's how intelligence can help a man be more attractive to women.
Intelligence does not make you unattractive to a woman.
But it is not attractive either by itself. And if it is the first thing brought up in a dating context, could indicate that other features are lacking, or in particular that the person is a Gamma.
One of my mentors phrased it this way: “A woman wants two different types of men. The type of man she wants to make babies with, and the type of man she wants to raise babies with. And most guys are often one or the other, rarely both.”
It’s a cruel dichotomy for most men. Is he the bad boy who can get the girl, but is a horrible father? Or is he the nice guy who’s great with kids, but can’t attract a woman to save his life? Finding the balance between the two is a serious challenge to overcome.
Perhaps it's time to take schizo meds so you can be the full package and turn into a new age werewolf. It's a joke but sadly I'm certain some grifter out there is marketing this as we speak.
I'd venture to say that the nice guy who wants kids should set his sights on less attractive women who show signs of being loyal wives vs the hot single moms that the bad boys have already used and abandoned.
No. Stop trying to rewrite the rules to make yourself sound better. There is nothing cowardly about being a player. In fact, it's the nice Deltas who are the cowards; they're afraid to even talk to girls.
Since you say these qualities are usually mutually exclusive, which type of man do you think has the advantage, if either? Which is it better to start out as?
Can confirm. Which is why your Mum telling you to "be nice" is lethal to intelligent men. I tell my non-midwit progeny to hit the gym and remain in the church and shut up. Then he might be deemed cute. Because letting his smarts out causes most women to cringe. I add that I learned all this the hard way.

In an unfallen world. Attractiveness and Goodness would be Unified. As Adam and Eve was before the fall.

Nice guys finish last?

Leather books would be real nice.
Oh well. Who knows what the future holds?
Between that (very good) variant art, and your AI fursona shenanigans on the Darkstream... Vox, is there something you want to tell us?

Yes, Kari changes her tune when she learns he's also a top athlete. 🤭

Intelligence is useless if it fails to grasp the fact that GIRLS LIKE MUSCLES.
An atrophied body cannot support a properly sharp mind. The mind-body connection is more intimate than people thought back then.
Is the lesson here that intelligent men should hide their intelligence to attract more women, or that they should just accept that their intelligence is a handicap that makes them unattractive to most women?
It is a handicap in isolation. If you can use it to recreate yourself then it is hardly in their consideration at all.
The latter, except you overstate it. It's just a strike against you, it's not a death knell. If, for example, you make up for your high intelligence by being arrogant and cruel, it actually tends to work for you. In the short term, anyhow.

"He is nice" -> A low-mid Delta.
"He is smart" -> Gamma
It's like hearing that a woman is "nice". It indicates that she probably isn't "pretty", or "hot".
We all want a woman that it pretty, hot, and nice, but they are pretty rare.

Mid-women are good enough for many Delta men. So workable.
"The type of man she wants to make babies with, and the type of man she wants to raise babies with"
Most guys are good with kids. Maybe a better distinction is man vs coward.
No. Stop trying to rewrite the rules to make yourself sound better. There is nothing cowardly about being a player. In fact, it's the nice Deltas who are the cowards; they're afraid to even talk to girls.
I was referring to "the man who raises babies" as a coward, not the player.
I understood you. The guys that women want to make babies with generally make good fathers.
Alphas, Sigmas, and Bravos can be great fathers. Deltas are also generally good dads. Gammas tend not be be.
The weakness of the high status man isn't a deficiency of fathering aptitude or skill, but rather a tendency to not be monogamous.
This tendency, combined with a culture that absolutely prohibits polygyny, results in many broken families and fatherless children.
Basically, what Vox said.
Since you say these qualities are usually mutually exclusive, which type of man do you think has the advantage, if either? Which is it better to start out as?
Neither has the advantage. Each man has the responsibility of slowing down or speeding up to fill in the gaps wherever they lie within himself.
Most men in my experience are the “raise babies” type of man, because there’s a gross abundance of nice guys in Western civilization.
Can confirm. Which is why your Mum telling you to "be nice" is lethal to intelligent men. I tell my non-midwit progeny to hit the gym and remain in the church and shut up. "He's nice" is the male equivalent of the overweight or homely female's "she has a nice personality".
"She's very sweet" = dumb and not very pretty.
We like pretty women to also be smart and sweet, but will not consider the "sweet, smart, ugly and fat chicks".,🤷
If people lead with "sweet" for a woman, or "nice/smart" for a man, that's a bad sign.
