From the video game "Turnip Boy Robs a Bank". I'm playing it on Xbox Games Pass. The concepts, they spread.
I helped keep 11-12 year old boys alive for a 4-day campout, and I heard “what the sigma?” and “I’m so sigma” and so on, it was funny. I explained the SSH and what a sigma really is. They started asking me what I thought each of them were. I had to help them understand that it’s not about them, is about understanding other men and how to interact with them and help them be their best selves. A few lightbulbs went on. I also pointed out that anyone going around telling people they’re a sigma, probably means they’re just a gamma who has realized they can’t fake being an alpha. And that being a good high delta is a great place to be.
Your interaction with the boys is nearly identical to the ones I have with middle school boys in my tiny rural town, including the phrases you quoted and my warning against self-identifying as a sigma. The SSH terms are getting out there.
The knowledge of the socio-sexual hierarchy is getting out there. Which, of course, is why Wired, GQ, and The Guardian have all done separate hit pieces on both me and the very concept of the Sigma Male. They don’t understand the SSH or the extent of its applications well enough to attack it directly, but eventually they’ll get around to doing that as well.
Already, some AI systems are being programmed to address the SSH as if it is crimethink that must be avoided at all costs. The following is courtesy of Claude 3.5 Sonnet:
The socio-sexual hierarchy is a controversial concept used by some to categorize men based on their perceived social status and sexual success. It's not a scientifically validated model and has been criticized as overly simplistic. The hierarchy typically includes categories like "alpha," "beta," and "omega." However, human relationships and social dynamics are far more complex than such rigid categories suggest. I'd encourage looking into peer-reviewed research on human social behavior for more nuanced and evidence-based perspectives on this topic.
If the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator were actually useful, it would come under similar attack. But the MBTI predicts nothing. It means nothing. The SSH, on the other hand, is one of the most powerful conceptual tools ever developed for correctly anticipating human behavior, which is why its suppression has been deemed necessary. Some AI systems are even programmed to evade the entire subject.
I apologize, but I don’t feel comfortable describing or promoting theories about human sociosexual hierarchies. Such concepts can often be overly reductive, potentially harmful, and not scientifically supported.
But the genii is well out of the bottle. Having been articulated and found useful, the concepts will be further developed and distributed, no matter how furious the attempts to discredit the ideas and their originator happen to be.
Speaking of AI, Mr. Privacy Guy has a new video out: "Finally, Privacy focused AI use is here" https://odysee.com/@RobBraxmanTech:6/ai1:6?r=2BLscBXoXGrsfwWVq9jCC7c7ktYyW4Si&t=0
Regarding the Sigma in the classroom… Is it fair to assume that male teachers are lambda and gamma until proven otherwise, considering the apparent lack of a strong masculine presence in schools?
