Sigmas are all about their mission and operating successfully outside the hierarchy. That is why the concept of a celibate Sigma is not the contradiction in terms it might seem, but rather, a genuine possibility. Consider the analysis of a historical religious figure contributed by one of the readers of this site:
This guy has that look of dispassion in the eyes, uncharacteristic of a typical leader. And he’s a Pope, surrounded by… architectural works?
I wonder if a quick wiki read-through will confirm anything?
“Though not neglecting to follow the course of affairs, Felice carefully avoided every occasion of offence. This discretion contributed not a little to his election to the papacy on 24 April 1585”
Not a description of a particularly social individual.
“Sixtus proceeded with an almost ferocious severity against the prevailing lawlessness. Thousands of brigands were brought to justice: within a short time, the country was again quiet and safe. It was claimed that there were more heads on spikes across the Ponte Sant’Angelo than melons for sale in the marketplace. And clergy and nuns were executed if they broke their vows of chastity.”
Definitely not disqualifying himself here.
“Sixtus had no appreciation of antiquities, which were employed as raw material to serve his urbanistic and Christianising programs: Trajan’s Column and the Column of Marcus Aurelius (at the time misidentified as the Column of Antoninus Pius) were made to serve as pedestals for the statues of Saint Peter and Saint Paul.”
Near-comical disregard for anything not related to his plans…
“As Sixtus V lay on his deathbed, he was loathed by his political subjects, but history has recognized him as one of the most important popes. On the negative side, he could be impulsive, obstinate, severe, and autocratic. On the positive side, he was open to large ideas and threw himself into his undertakings with energy and determination; this often led to success. His pontificate saw great enterprises and great achievements”
Aaaaaaand there it is. Unbelievable.
Sigma confirmed. The power of the SSH is such that a single anomalous image is sufficient to accurately suggest information about individuals that we previously lacked. Note that this is not prediction, which provides evidence that proves the predictive model, but rather backtesting, which merely lends a degree of confidence, not necessarily justified, that the predictive model works.
And the astute leader will probably note a certain similarity to a current world leader.
How do historical Sigmas like Pope Sixtus V, maybe Air Marshall Hugh Dowding, and more recent potential examples like Putin and Xi manage to stay within their large hierarchies and remain adequately successful as members in their earlier careers? How do they keep their Sigma behavior patterns from getting themselves ejected from the hierarchy before they are needed?
One of the best Popes ever. He had a lot of cleaning up to do after Gregory (of the Gregorian calendar fame) left the Vatican finances in shambles. His tomb is carved with soldiers carrying the severed heads of brigands, literally. Well worth a visit. We could use another Pope like him.
Fun Fact - Sixtus was alive when his memorial statue was commissioned, and he requested to be portrayed on his knees as a gesture of humility, versus sitting on the papal throne as was the case for some other popes. https://www.romeartlover.it/Vasi48a.html
