Well, written. It's all accurate but actually has nothing to do with so-called "gamma". It's just being a Jew, as Gaiman is.

Gayman is one reason why young women need their fathers who help evaluate suitors.

If a man is older and not a creep he will do fine. But Gayman wouldnt likely even bother if he knew her father is also watching.

Being able to ID gammas in situational alpha roles is invaluable for any young woman beginning to date. I'm grateful to you for your lessons on this aspect over the years because my daughter can identify gamma creeps, knows why they are creeps, and avoids them. Sharing these lessons with her was one of my better decisions as father to a teen daughter.

Amen. Didn’t know the terminology at the time. My daughters were prey to such predators. With one I even had to have a very blunt talk with her: “Your bullshit filter is clogged.Think, you have a brain, use it, he is a loser.” It took awhile, including a dinner with his parents to “celebrate’ the upcoming nuptials. They were thrilled, wife and I were not. Fortunately she finally came to here senses. Second one for figured it out on herself without a blunt conversation. She is more situational aware than her sister. With both, wife was for a non confrontational approach in both cases, I am not built that way. I protect my girls. They knew where I stood. Both have since married MEN and have both given us grandchildren.

“Whoever causes one of these little ones, those who believe in me, to fall, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”

Who would have thought that childhood stories and books try to help us out in this world. We have to keep getting better at seeing the wolf and other bad guys.

Vox Day's avatar

Yes, it's ridiculous how conservatives keep getting excited over people like Jordan Peterson and JD Vance, who are not, and never were, on their side.

N Bear's avatar

JD Vance is a funny one. He is easily see through with his cow worshiping wife. Calling them cow worshipers does have effect on helping normies and Christians see how bad they are. Just saw a man return a pizza from a very small town store what is now operated by a cow worshiper and made me think what will be Americans last straw.

The Little Red Riding Hood story is a marvelous Christian anti-Semitic parable. There's no wisdom like old wisdom!

I am Euphoric, because in this moment, I realized how truly predictable the SSH is for gamma types like Neil and every other archetype. Wow, that picture is absolutely and wonderfully hilarious. This taxonomy WILL stand the test of time. Daily proving eternal truths about the human condition. SDL has a great sense of humor, rife with the appropriate amount of cruelty and Schadenfreude.

The shower scene from Psycho is apparently a guide to some Gammas.

And given the vigour they are defending him, this must be a common practice.

Elisabeth Hagen's avatar

Gaiman's desperate need to explain away the wolf's evil brings to mind Humbert Humbert from Lolita.

Is it accurate to say that a gamma is really just a boy in a man’s body? A man who failed to mature fully for whatever reason

taignobias's avatar

It's insufficient, but not entirely inaccurate.

Gammas are stunted, true. But not all boys have even a lick of Gamma in them.

More like a narcissistic, snarky, mean girl in a man’s body.

The kind of man that roofies women in clubs.

Dear Lord:

Realizing the importance of this endeavor, please don't let Vox stop hammering Mr. Tubcuddle until all that's left is shattered porcelain remnants.

Sincerely,

a fan

Mein Gott. It's so much worse than I imagined. We just have to keep focused on the good, the beautiful and the True.

As a girl I never ever thought there was anything remotely sexual in the wolf's relationship with Red Riding Hood, and I still cannot really conceive of it. Either I am immensely thick or Neil Gaiman is projecting a lot of his own sexual fantasies onto the story of the little girl.

CL's avatar

Yeah, it's a theme in the old fairytales but Hollywood has done some movies where the sexualization of the wolf and hood dynamic is much more obvious. I like reading the old tales because evil is so obvious and there's no defense of it.

taignobias's avatar

It's explicit in the old French versions that Gaiman told us he loves. In some older versions, he even tricks Red into eating some of her grandmother first, which is another layer of depraved.

The 1697 Perrault printing has a moral at the end. "Alas! Who does not know that these gentle wolves are of all such creatures the most dangerous!"

Arabella's avatar

Thanks for the explanation. I always found the moral of this story empowering for the girl I guess to each reader his/her own.

taignobias's avatar

Ah, a troll. My pardons.

Arabella's avatar

Are you calling me a troll?

Masked Menace's avatar

Yeah, well, I thought the same way about the bathtub.

Arabella's avatar

I don't understand your comment.

Masked Menace's avatar

As a boy I never ever thought there was anything remotely sexual about the bathtub. Then came the recent Neil Gaiman revelations... which, unfortunately, I cannot unsee. If you are ever in the presence of Mr. Gaiman, don't, under any circumstances, go near the bathtub.

Arabella's avatar

Ah, now I understand. At university, one of the people in my college was a young man who insisted that every pencil he saw was a phallic symbol. I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder. So beware also of pencils.

More specifically, and especially regarding this story, keep an eye out for where the prey is. Bathtubs and wandering alone in the woods are where children are vulnerable with little recourse against predators. It is in those sorts of places children should be taught to keep their guards up. That's the moral of these stories.

I listened to the podcast Vox linked at VP and the characterization of Neil Gaiman, his behavior and the things he said to Claire leading up to and during the final encounter between him and her, are echoed and match up with this wolf dream of his. He said to Claire when he was unable to take things to completion with her because of her resistance, "I am a very wealthy man, and I am used to getting what I want."

Somewhere along the line (very early on, it seems, from this wolf thing), it appears Neil Gaiman got the idea that it was cool to be the predator. And not just any predator, but the predator that other predators dream of being, the predator that goes after more than just a single little red riding hood but any female in his path. And if there is something that Gammas want to be more than anything, it is to be seen as cool and the envy of others.

But nobody envies being a creep.

Except, apparently, Neil Gaiman.

Cedric's avatar

"... the idea that it was cool to be the predator."

Those who are cool, do they think about it even a little? Those times I've seen cool, calm or collected people, they've always been guys who have had hope and childish faith beaten out of them. The cool haven't got the time to pretend to give a bleep about things.

Masked Menace's avatar

I think it's cool to be the Woodsman. We need more Woodsmen... we need a lot more Woodsmen.

Christ takes broken souls, and puts them together again.

The gamma says "No, I'll put my own soul together myself, thank you very much! And it will be the more beautiful for it!." And thus, we get monsters like Gaimen. Who, like the quote from the post says, enjoy looking at the mirror and think they see beauty. The rest of us see awful, hideous ugly lies.
