Knowing how the SSH applies to you is empowering and freeing. I’m a high-achieving Omega, so it’s great to know how my established traits create pitfalls and failure modes and how I can expect to relate to the other ranks. Why would you not want to know that?
I think the Adam Piggott in the news article is not one and the same as the commenter. The Gentleman Adventurer Piggott is closer to my age (52) , IIRC

I'm always fascinated by these posts. Every time one like this shows up and I slog through the mud of the words I keep hearing Galatians 5:22-23 rolling around in my mind. Life lived by the Spirit produces the fruit of the Spirit, which looks, smells and tastes a lot like a well ordered and emotionally balanced life.
This suggests that wherever one finds themselves on the framework, learning to "crucify the sinful nature" (vs 24) and to live "by the Spirit... in step with the Spirit" (v25) would set us on a path to producing the Fruit of the Spirit in our own lives. My sense is that this is where we find ourselves gaining victory over the essential weaknesses of each category in the framework.
Oh... and let's not forget vs 26..."Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other." Which I take to mean that, even when we walk with the Spirit, and we produce the Fruit of the Spirit, we must still remain on guard to the very human tendency to compare ourselves to someone else and make certain judgements about them based on what we can only observe from the outside. In other words, the work of the reshaping us into Christ Followers never ends.
Goodness gracious, next he'll be challenging Vox to a handbag fight at 20 paces. The whole "put in a box" thing is the gamma straining to keep himself firmly inside the walls of his delusion bubble and not let reality intrude, not even one little bit.
You can't become the best version of yourself until you stop lying to yourself.

I don't agree with the turbo catholic framing regarding the SSH. It's super helpful when dealing with priests and deacons in a typical catholic church. Doesn't matter if they are working on changing when you are dealing with them any given day, they are what they are right now.

Over the past decade I’ve transformed myself from a doughy passive-aggressive know-it-all douche, to a fit, muscular, competitive jiu-jitsu blackbelt who keeps his mouth and emotions tightly under control. I’ve disciplined myself to recognize and intercept the gamma behaviors before they manifest in order to keep them hidden. A casual encounter might leave you thinking I’m an alpha because I’ve learned to mimic many of the behaviors of the alpha. I’ve even attracted and retained a stunning woman who in my past life would have been impossible to attract.
Like the commenter, for a time I too believed I had graduated gamma and proven you wrong. But the hardest journey is the pursuit of truth. And that truth is, I’m still a gamma and I’ll never be a non-gamma. That realization can be crushing to accept, which is why so many gammas refuse to.
Yes, personal transformation is absolutely possible. I’m living proof. But one’s nature is what it is. For the gamma, the quiet internal battle against that nature never ends, even if nobody other than you is ever aware of that battle.
Your comment and Vox’s reply are without a doubt the two most pertinent and interesting comments here. Vox’s comment also gave the spark to remind me of various attributes/approaches I have seen in others and myself that are at the very core of the person. In fact it reminded me of how/why I came up with my own classification of different types of men many years ago before Alpha Game existed probably and certainly before I knew anything about Vox. It is a very interesting topic what makes people tick and in so many different (unique really) ways. That said… one should also not get caught up on the meaningless minutiae of it.
You did the hard part: identify weaknesses, accept that they are real, and then go about addressing them. So few of us are willing to do that, and that is the box, not the taxonomy of the SSH.
First, I congratulate you. The discipline of martial arts can be invaluable for the man who lacks self-discipline. What you've done is very, very difficult.
Second, because our minds are impenetrable to others, it's impossible to communicate the different modes of thought and instinct that flow inside them. The indifference of the Sigma, the sensitivity of the Gamma, the dominance of the Alpha, all of these things can be concealed and controlled through willpower.
The point is that they will always have to be controlled. It's the instincts and patterns underlying the observable behavior that count, not the surface everyone sees in snapshots.
