I recall an Omega acquaintance who I’ve lost touch with loved the overnight shift in his large organization because it was quiet. He declined any offer to move to daytimes, including an offered promotion. He eventually left over what he called “forced socialization” - basically company picnics, softball games, and the like. When I did ask him why not just blow it off, it turned out that the pressure from the expectation to do something every few months more than even the events themselves was intolerable.

I’ve read or been asked to read many books of the business/self-help/team-building genre over the years. Most are of limited value and could be condensed down to 2-3 sentences per chapter.

This series of posts is excellent, there is more truth, understanding, and detail here than you find in most everything else I have read. Genuinely useful, thank you.
