What? There are plenty of Sigmas on Vox’s comment thread.

My father is a sigma. 6'4'' farm boy, smart, decent looking, charismatic. Loyal to his kids and wife... but all other relationships are at his call, including extended family. Was in the army during Vietnam, made calls that made him unpopular but saved lives. Work and community involvement was always the same pattern: rise upwards in an organization, they get disgruntled with his independence and he with their organizational demands, he was either moved into other areas of the company or quit, never fired since he was always too skilled. We moved a lot. Women always flirted with him and it drove my mom nuts. His longest run till retirement, and his best fit, was as a Field Service Technician. He traveled the country repairing what the company messed up - always a new challenge to fix, worked away from the office bureaucracy, and he would pick his on the road team when he needed it.

I might have known a Sigma in the military, but I'm not sure.

Remember that Alpha platoon sergeant I told you about, the one who kicked out the Gamma? He'd test everyone new to the platoon. When the Sigma arrived, the Alpha walked into his room and said, "If I pulled my pants down and started walking toward you asking for a hug, what would you do?" The Sigma stared at him incredulously and said, "I'd probably kick you." The Alpha nodded, said "Nice," and walked out.

That was the test. The Sigma was delighted by it and fascinated by the way the Alpha operated. He and I became friends and started studying the Alpha together. At some point the Alpha sensed the split in the platoon, realized he was being watched, and quietly transferred the Sigma to another unit. The Alpha was careful never to challenge the Sigma openly. When the transfer orders came, they came completely out of the blue. I think the Alpha knew that if the Sigma saw it coming, he'd fight it. Not for any real reason. Just for the fun of it.

I stayed friends with him and watched him go on to upend every unit he was ever in. He'd start conflicts and be absolutely delighted by them. He ended up in specialized interrogation programs; some units test you by surrounding you with interrogators and grilling you, and the Sigma loved it. He relished conflict like it was a game.

So he's definitely not an Alpha, Bravo, or Delta, but he's also definitely not a Gamma. He always had girlfriends, and he'd often get women to conspire with him. And if anyone crossed him, he'd get his revenge in some underhanded, manipulative way. At best a pie in the face, at worst convincing them they had an incurable disease.

He's not stoic or indifferent like Dag, so I'm not quite sure.

Not fanboying; Vox- SSH codified things, described power & roles; helped me understand why I am as I am. Being sigma is fun but not for everyone.

Unexpected intensity? I always suspected it was my impeccable style or stunning intellect that left them frozen. But I guess my aura is enough. *tips fedora

Enter the Sigma, and all the girls drop their panties ... Yes, I speak for myself.

I can only speak from a female perspective, and I only know one Sigma, but I 100% agree with what is written here.

The intensity and the deep magnetic pull towards him are way beyond any normal attraction I have ever felt towards even the most handsome and magnetic alphas.

Can you say more about that? Is it just a feeling or can you describe it more thoroughly?

Sigmas are clearly the top of the totem-pole. I would never meet one on the battlefield and they infuriate us because they are the only men we can’t control. Vox’s SSH has helped so much categorize them up front so I know how to handle their behavior

For me, the biggest indicator is if he's "a loner, but not a loser". But I've only ever known one Sigma so I might be wrong.

The comic shows another indicator as well: when a sigma comes around, they tend to be the subject of a disproportionate amount of the group members' side chats and are talked about in a number of different ways. Everyone's heard or seen good things, aggravating things, impressive things, shocking things, etc.

A sigma just showing up tends to stir the seas.

You're on to something, Big Fella. I appreciate your ongoing musings here. Thank you—and continued success.
