The SSH Knows No Mercy
Even back in the 80's, people knew there was no mercy to be found in intersexual relations
The Dark Herald observes how a forgotten 80’s teen flick demonstrates the harsh reality of female attraction and how it has nothing to do with gratitude or loyalty:
It’s movie law at this point, isn’t it? Clearly, Karen has learned her horrible lesson. It was a devastating thing to have to go through but today it’s over with. She can now face life as a strong and confident young woman, who has found a young man of true quality, character, and devotion who will always be at her side. According to this same law, the only thing left at this point is for Gary to present Karen with an engagement ring and for Karen to relieve Gary of his much-despised virginity right before the credits roll. Oh, and she is supposed to kick Rick in the balls too.
And doesn’t.
That scene redeemed this whole cheap movie. It was so raw and so real. There is no winning a girl who is a 9 when you’re a 5. It doesn’t matter how deeply your heartfelt confession of true love is. The world doesn’t work like that. This was the only film in the 1980s that would admit it.
That was the end of the movie. Our hero breaks down in tears. Credits roll. The Fucking End.
The movie violated one of Hollywood’s most deceptive tropes: the Gamma Always Gets the Girl.
Movies relentlessly lie to young men about what is possible for them. They actively encourage Gamma delusions and create false incentives for Gamma behaviors. But the callous and unashamed self-interest demonstrated in this particular movie is much more in line with actual human behavior.
Felix of Schwarzenberg once said: “Austria will shock the world by the depth of its ingratitude." But he might as easily have been speaking of women when it comes to the way in which their attraction to a man has absolutely nothing to do with what that man has done, or is willing to do, for them.
The female lack of connection between attraction and commitment is an intrinsically different perspective that men simply have to accept if they are going to excel in life. And it’s one reason why it is absolutely vital to ignore what the media, what Hollywood, and even what women tell you, and instead learn to dispassionately observe the behavior of the men and women around you, recognize the patterns, and adjust your expectations and actions accordingly.
What's the movie's name?
I bet his character in the movie is better than him in real life. The dude has a instagram at 59 years old and is funnier than the ending of this movie. I like how movie characters are most, if not all, the time cooler and better than their real lives.
